This to me is what combines all the other words in C.H.I.M.E. Recovery.
To have meaning you have purpose, to have purpose you feel Empowerment. Empowerment you know your Identity and its your Identity that we Connect with. Having hope is to the want to have meaning.
Asking my daughter she said proudly " I have meaning as i am a big sister to my little brother."
Meaning gives value, importance and self worth to a persons life. That feeling of having a purpose helps build that clear vision of direction in life.
"What do i want to do career wise, what do I want to achieve? What do I enjoy?
We struggle answering this so early on in our life as we are asked at such a young age " what are you going to do with your life?" We then come fixated with this question.
Then we question ourselves as the years go on.
"What can i achieve with my time."
"What if"
Do you contemplate "is this really it for the rest of my life" working same 9-5 boring job, well the answer is no, its never to late to bring meaning back into your life.
I know many people in thier late 30s whom didnt know what they wanted to be until thier late 20s from 18-26 they changed careers often due to indecisiveness "Is this really what I want to do for the rest of my life" " Is this my calling?"
We all believe we have that one purpose, our true meaning in life in which we strive to achieve with our limited time on Earth.
When you should be enjoying the moment, purpose. Aim for what makes you happy, sometimes achieving the littler things in life that gives you meaning is more rewarding, meaningful. Then a whole life of stress searching for a divine meaning.
Meaning doesn't have to be the perfect career, it could be doing that one hobby that you enjoy that gives you peace, a place to escape and brings you happiness. You have meaning as your doing something you love. A personal meaning that brings joy.
What does meaning mean to you?
Is it your children? The charity/voluntery work? Your career you specialise in? Getting that dream job? Your family? Your pets? Is it taking the groceries to your grandparents every week ? Theres no right or wrong answer to this as we are all unique and have our own pursuits of happiness and meaning.
